Discover Ulsan Through Global Eyes at “A Special Day in Ulsan”

Ulsan—a city known for its dramatic coastlines, vibrant cityscapes, and thriving industrial energy—is about to be seen in a whole new light. From December 24th to 30th, the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center will host “A Special Day in Ulsan,” a photography exhibition that captures the heart and soul of the city from sunrise to nightfall. What makes this event special? Every image has been captured by international photographers who now call Ulsan home, offering a unique perspective on this beautiful city.

Expect to see:

  • Morning serenity at spots like Taehwa River Park, where nature and urban life coexist harmoniously.
  • Bustling cityscapes and street scenes that capture Ulsan’s daily rhythm.
  • Hidden corners and peaceful escapes that unveil the quieter, often overlooked side of the city.
  • Nighttime elegance, where city lights create a magical glow against the landscape.

Through these images, you’ll experience the Ulsan you know—and perhaps discover something entirely new.

Meet the Photographers Behind the Lens

This event is not just about photographs; it’s about the people who created them. The exhibition has been curated and led by me, Jason Teale, a Canadian photographer with a love for capturing landscapes and storytelling through images. I’ve had the privilege of mentoring a group of talented photographers from diverse backgrounds who have poured their creativity into this project.

Here are the photographers and their countries of origin:

  • Jason Teale (Canada) – Local photographer and instructor
  • Greg Schroeder (USA)
  • Cory Balderas (USA)
  • Nazmul Hasan (Bangladesh)
  • Astria Hijriani (Indonesia)
  • Yanuar Ady Setiawan (Indonesia)
  • Sri Utami Purwaningati (Indonesia)
  • Alfred Jaeggi (Switzerland)
  • Bexie Wright (England)
  • Sharon Solis (Costa Rica)
  • Ulugbek Ismatullaev (Uzbekistan)
  • Eleni Poloniataki (Greece)

Each photographer brings their unique perspective, shaped by their cultural backgrounds and personal journeys in Ulsan. Their work reflects not just the beauty of the city but also the richness of its international community.

Why This Exhibition Matters

“A Special Day in Ulsan” is more than just a display of stunning images. It’s a celebration of Ulsan’s diversity and the connections between its local and international residents. It’s about seeing the familiar in a new way and finding beauty in the everyday moments that make up life here.
