As I am picking my way through RC Concepcion’s new book “Get Your Photography on the Web” I am learning a ton about blogging and photography. One of the things that stood out was the section on Fotomoto a plugin and site that helps people purchase you photos. RC lays it all out for you (I am not going to because I really want you to pick up his book).
The basic premise behind the feature is that from your blog people can purchase prints and and other products that make you money. I have just added Β this feature to my current site and there are a few formatting issues but so far it has installed quite easily. Β Once it is installed little links will appear under your photos. These will link to the fotomoto site and allow people to purchase prints and to pay for downloads.
The download purchase is a key feature to why I want this on my blog. Although fotomoto does take a cut, it is significantly less on the download. This makes obtaining images from your site quick and easy for people needing images. Now, the system is not perfect because I know that some people out there would like 100% of the profit and whatnot. However, if you are looking for sales the quick and easy along with giving your potential customers an easy way to get prints, cards and downloads of you work, this is for you.
I will be testing it out over the next little while and I will let you all know what my thoughts are. Here’s hoping that it will prove useful and profitable. Check out the photos below for examples of the formatting.
