The Seoul International Photo and Imaging Industry Show is back at COEX this year and is happening on April 21st to the 24th. Last year, I went up with Griffin Stewart to check out this massive photo event. It truly was what we had imagined and then some. The “and then some” part was the fact that most of the booths contained young girls in various costumes posing for hordes of camera happy men.
Canon was rocking the “school girl” theme and positioned their expensive products around two models and a classroom setting. It was interesting for me because I have never actually seen this type of set up outside of car shows in Korea. However, if you are a portrait photographer that doesn’t want to hire a model… this might be a cost effective way to boost your portfolio.
At any rate, the show is great if you are looking to purchase cheap gear as most booths will have deals on for the show. Also, if you are looking for something specific, then this will most likely be where you will find it. Most of the major names will be there along with some great photos and tons of gear to get your drooling.
